Mercator Institute projects
The Mercator Institute for Literacy and Language Education researches and develops innovative concepts, measures and tools for language education in various projects. The Institute conducts application-oriented research on current and socially relevant questions of language education, from nursery school to the transition into work. Interdisziplinary project teams use both qualitative and quantitative methods.

"What Works?"
The Mercator Institute’s work area "What Works?" intends to bridge the gap between research, policy-making and educational practice. A research team brings together existing knowledge about language eduction regarding the effectiveness of concepts, measures or models. This knowledge is evaluated and recombined according to defined evidence-based criteria. Finally, the conclusions address specific target groups across several formats.
