Dr. Henrike Terhart studied educational science, sociology and psychology at the University of Cologne. In her educational doctorate at the University of Cologne, she dealt with the body presentations of young women in the context of migration. Since then, Henrike Terhart has been a guest professor at the Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, and has represented professorships for intercultural education research and sociology of education at the University of Cologne and the Ruhr University Bochum. Her work focuses on theoretical and methodological issues of intercultural education, organizational development and pedagogical professionalisation in the migration society, recently immigrated students and teachers as well as methods of qualitative social research. At the Mercator Institute, Henrike Terhart is responsible for the program for refugee teachers at the University of Cologne and coordinates the international cooperation of the Mercator Institute. In winter term 2019/2020 Henrike Terhart has taken on a substitute professorship at the Goethe University Frankfurt with the focus on "Education and Migration".
